Alan Robinson, BVSc, MRCVS, DMS, director of VetDynamics UK Ltd, says technology is going to shift the role of veterinarians. Currently, a veterinarian is the purveyor of all veterinary information. Technology, however, is making that information ubiquitously available through the Internet.

In the future, veterinary practices will not be the only places that possess diagnostic abilities. This will shift the role of veterinarians from the purveyor of information to the curator of wisdom, helping pet owners understand what to do next based on the information they’ve already received.
