Data backup is something every veterinary practice knows they should be doing and thinks they are doing, says Nancy Dewitz, director of sales and marketing and technical consultant for Beyond Indigo Pets. But, in reality, they probably aren't. She says backing up your data is just as important as locking the door at night.

Computer crashes and data losses happen so regularly, Dewitz says, and ransomware has also become a huge issue. Computer hackers are attacking veterinary practices with ransomware because they know they spend less time on IT security than anyone else, she says.
