Several veterinary-related programs are now emerging for highschool students, says Amanda Landis-Hanna, DVM, senior manager of veterinary outreach for PetSmart Charities. These programs are designed to help educate highschool students that have an interest in veterinary medicine.

Veterinary assistant programs at vocational schools are beginning to develop, where students can then pursue veterinary technical school or veterinary college after receiving their certificate. Additionally, Dr. Landis-Hanna mentions a few programs that are run in conjunction with veterinary schools. Some programs even let highschool students engage in a small- or large- animal tract.
